What does NATA Safety 1st staff do when surrounded by 500 students? Give them light sabers and teach them how to marshal aircraft! We were very fortunate to have been invited to the launch of the Flying Classroom, a digital global flight curriculum designed to help students excel in Math, Science, Reading and other core subject areas. School children from Washington D.C. and Baltimore journeyed to Signature Flight Support at DCA for the Flying Classroom and Aerospace Career Fair. Students visited 27 aviation-related tabletop displays and heard from NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, Congressman Sam Graves, Fabio Alexander from Executive Aircraft Services and finally Captain Barrington Irving, founder of Experience Aviation.
Kim and I had a great time at this event! The children were interested and eager to learn about marshalling signals, including come ahead, left turn, right turn and stop (especially the emergency stop).
